FRIEND OF THE PEOPLE.

THE

STAR

OF

FREEDOM.

THIS the last number of the Friend of the People in its present form.

Briefly, but sincerely, I give my heartfelt thanks to my numerous friends and readers, who, by their gallant support of this periodical, have encouraged me to make the important announcement in last Saturday's number.  The "Friend of the People" will henceforth be incorporated with the STAR OF FREEDOM, the first number of which will appear on Saturday, April 24th.

Want of space compels but a brief notice of the arrangements already effected, and those in progress to render the STAR OF FREEDOM a first-rate journal.  In addition to GERALD MASSEY, whose engagement was announced in the last No. of the "Friend," the writers already engaged include W. J. LINTON, the celebrated Republican writer; SAMUEL M. KYDD, the able, and long tried champion of Labour's rights; and ALEXANDER BELL, a young, but rising writer, the worth of whose compositions must be well known to our readers.

With this staff of writers, aided by Foreign correspondents, the STAR OF FREEDOM cannot fail to be recognised by public opinion as the organ of Ultra-Democracy.

The STAR OF FREEDOM will advocate Democracy, both in the Legislature and the Workshop.  The fullest and best reports will be given of Chartist and Democratic meetings; the proceedings of Trade and Cooperative bodies; and all movements connected with, or affecting the Working-Classes.

As soon as the arrangements shall have been fully completed, the Foreign Intelligence will be superior to that of any Newspaper published.

In addition to its unique political features, the "STAR OF FREEDOM" will contain the best and latest News--Parliamentary, Metropolitan, Provincial, Colonial, Theatrical, Police, Law, Markets, &c. &c., every description of occurrences, and every passing event.

A Gentleman of eminent legal attainments, has been engaged as LEGAL ADVISER, and will, fully and gratuitously, answer the questions of Correspondents wishing trustworthy information on points of Law.

The Reviews and Literary Criticism in general will be of the first order.  In this department of the Paper will appear a series of articles on English Literature; also a series on the Poets of the People, and the Literature of Labour; Translations from Foreign Literature, &c.

THE BIOGRAPHIES OF EMINENT CHARACTERS will be continued.

"THE COUNTESS OF RUDOLSTADT" will be continued and completed in the

STAR OF FREEDOM,
which will he published every Saturday,
Price Fourpence-Halfpenny.

FAll Correspondence for the Editor, to be addressed to No. 4, Brunswick-row, Queensquare, Bloomsbury; London.

FAll Orders, Applications for Placards, &c., to be addressed to the Publisher, JOHN BEZER, 183, Fleet-street, London.
